Important Reminders

Progress reports go out Monday afternoon, September 21st.
Teachers will send them in an email to parents/guardians.
Our Mariner teachers shared such helpful information with parents virtual open house last week! If you missed it, teachers shared recorded versions of the sessions, so you can be well informed about expectations and plans for the year.
Our fabulous specials teachers also created recorded sessions so parents can learn about what your child is doing this year in art, music, PE, media, and guidance.
You can find these recordings on the specials schedule page under the Open House tab.
 Chatham County Returning Student Registration
You should have received an email with a link to update your child's enrollment record for this school year. It is very important that you complete this process by Sept 30. This is your opportunity to update phone numbers, email addresses, etc. If you have any questions, or did not receive an email, please contact Rebecca Johnson at 919-967-9925 or rmjohnson@chatham.k12.nc.us.
Did you know that anytime you miss Mrs. Doty's Wednesday night phone call/email, you can access the information on the PHS school website? Look for the Wednesday Night Message tab on the homepage.

Community Engagement

We are working to build a strong Perry Harrison community, and one way parents can support our school is by being engaged in the wider community.

1) Chatham County School Board Meeting:  Wednesday, September 23rd at 5:30pm at Horton Middle School. This meeting will be to consider actions related to COVID-19.  The meeting agenda and more information about safety protocols for the meeting or how to access the live stream can be found here.

2) Take advantage of free local programs and services available to the public in our community!  The Chatham Community Library offers curbside pick-up and lots of great online activities while the libraries are closed.  You can sign up for their newsletter and read more about their offerings here.

3)  Register to vote and participate in the upcoming election.  Chatham County School Board positions are on the ballot, as well as the NC Superintendent for Public Instruction. All elected officials make decisions that impact public education, so we can work to learn about candidates' positions on issues surrounding education.  Details about requesting absentee ballots, early voting, and sample ballots can be found here.

4) Make sure you are counted in the census!  Having an accurate count of our community members affects funding for all kinds of public services, including public schools!  You can complete the census on paper, via phone, or online.  Visit https://census.nc.gov/ to make sure your family is counted by September 30th!

Sponsor of the Week

Thank you, PHS Business Sponsors!

Each week, we feature one of our Perry Harrison Business Sponsors, and this week, we are sending our thanks to Chatham Pediatric Dentistry

Chatham Pediatric Dentistry is located at 79 Falling Springs Drive, Suite 120 in the Veranda near Briar Chapel, and Dr. Alex or Dr. Kev (parent of kindergartner Arley and third grader Emmet) can take care of all your child's dental needs.

If your children have mouths, consider having those mouths maintained at Chatham Pediatric Dentistry.  Drs. Alexandra Boudreau and Kevin Ricker are board certified pediatric dentists in Briar Chapel, where they've built a practice based on clinical excellence, a family atmosphere, and a healthy dose of self-deprecating humor.  Dr. Kev has two children at Perry Harrison, and CPD's been supporting the school community for years.  CPD's always eagerly accepting new patients, so please call 919-391-3813 for an appointment.

You can learn more about Chatham Pediatric Dentistry and our other business sponsors here.  We appreciate the support these local businesses have shown to Perry Harrison!  Please thank them when you patronize them this year.  Shopping locally keeps important funding for our schools within Chatham County, so this is just one more way we can build our community this year!

If you know of a business that would like to serve as a PHS sponsor, please contact president@phs.pta.org.
