The Perry Harrison PTA is excited to host several parent workshops throughout the school year. In an effort to bring our families and education together, these workshops explore district initiatives and other relevant topics, and showcase how they come to life every day at PHS. Events include guest speakers as well as break out sessions by topic or by classroom.

The PTA is sponsoring a Parent Education Night on October 24th from 5:30-7:30. These events provide our families with a more in-depth look into what our school initiatives are and how they are being implemented in our classrooms.

The topics of discussion for this event include the following:

Rigor - Learn how we are increasing rigor in our instruction so that all students can learn at high levels.

Rubrics - Learn how are we using rubrics to show students, parents and teachers what students are learning in the content areas.

Student Goal Setting - Learn how goal setting helps students become more resourceful, increases self-confidence and motivation and helps student be more autonomous.

PowerSchool - Learn how to access PowerSchool and see your students grades.

Growth Mindset

May 9, 2019

Thanks to all who joined us on May 9th for Growth Mindset Night. This event was an opportunity for families to come together to learn about how Growth Mindset can have a positive impact on our students here at school and at home. Parents then had the chance to discuss their ideas around Growth Mindset with other parents and a staff member.

Kara GrawOzburn was our guest speaker for the event. Kara is a proud Perry Harrison parent. She has a background in developmental coaching, a Master's degree in servant leadership, and over 15 years of experience advising college students. Having seen how the introduction of growth mindset worked at the university level, she was very excited to hear of the introduction at PHS this year.

Parents are also invited to read this article before: How parents can instill a Growth Mindset at home.

Digital Learning Night

January 24, 2019

Digital Learning is one of the district's initiatives this year called Ignite Chatham. Ignite Chatham is an instructional initiative that illuminates connections and coherence between multiple district programs, priorities, and previous initiatives. These efforts will ignite innovative instruction, empower student learning, and launch CCS to new heights. Guest speaker Delia DeCourcy, Executive Director for Digital Teaching & Learning for CCS, presented this initiative, followed by breakout sessions for parents to experience digital learning in the classroom.
