We are working to build a strong Perry Harrison community, and one way parents can support our school is by being engaged in the wider community.
1) Chatham County School Board Meeting: Wednesday, September 23rd at 5:30pm at Horton Middle School. This meeting will be to consider actions related to COVID-19. The meeting agenda and more information about safety protocols for the meeting or how to access the live stream can be found here.
2) Take advantage of free local programs and services available to the public in our community! The Chatham Community Library offers curbside pick-up and lots of great online activities while the libraries are closed. You can sign up for their newsletter and read more about their offerings here.
3) Register to vote and participate in the upcoming election. Chatham County School Board positions are on the ballot, as well as the NC Superintendent for Public Instruction. All elected officials make decisions that impact public education, so we can work to learn about candidates' positions on issues surrounding education. Details about requesting absentee ballots, early voting, and sample ballots can be found here.
4) Make sure you are counted in the census! Having an accurate count of our community members affects funding for all kinds of public services, including public schools! You can complete the census on paper, via phone, or online. Visit https://census.nc.gov/ to make sure your family is counted by September 30th!
