Summer Beautification Plan
The PTA budgeted $3,000 for landscaping and $500 for beautification, both approved at our July 1st meeting. We are investing a portion of these funds as outlined below to spruce up the exterior of PHS prior to the first day of school on August 26.
Of course, many hands make light work, so we are extending an open invitation for PHS families to join us on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout July, from 7:30 - 9:00am (starting 7/10). All that is required is your gardening/yard tools, your amazing energy, and plenty of water to stay hydrated! We will work a specific area, as a team, each of the dedicated mornings. Don't forget to wear a hat and sunscreen!
Approved Landscaping an Beautification Efforts:
- Weed and clean up every planting bed around the school (approximately 5,000 square feet).
- Install 40 cubic yards of mulch purchased from the Chatham Farm and Home Store. Melinda, the owner and a PHS Parent, gave us a great price!
- Spread pine straw around the base of each tree (approximately 40).
- The total for this investment is $1,325, leaving us $2,175 in the budget for the balance of the year.
All of this work will prepare the grounds for our Bare Roots Planting Project in December - click here for more details of this exciting and educational project.
This is the first of what we hope will be many PTA projects that serve to engage the PHS community in a tangible/measurable task that directly benefits our children and teachers.
Thank you for your continued support!
