When parents and families get involved, all students benefit!
" At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child's success is the positive involvement of parents"... Jane D. Hull
Getting involved is a great way to show your kids that you take an interest in their education while sending a positive message that you consider school a worthwhile cause. Schools now have to raise their own money for activities and supplies that once were considered basic necessities. Parent volunteers are essential to leading these fundraising events and other school activities.
Volunteers also offer a huge resource for the school community. Working with teachers, administrators, and other parents will help you understand your child's daily activities. You'll also tap into trends and fads of school life that can help you communicate with your kids as they grow and change — all without intruding on their privacy or personal space.
Need a good reason to get involved?
Here's a great article with five reasons to be active at your school:
1. You can play a direct role in improving your community
2. You can fit it into your busy schedule, because it takes just one hour a week to make a difference.
3. Teachers might be superheroes, but it’s tough to save the world alone
4. It’s good for you
5. Volunteering gives you a chance to put your skills to use for positive change and further develop those skills
